Communication DIP Switch Settings

Summary

This document describes how to setup the communication modes for REV 4 and older back panels for the HM logger product line. 

If the current firmware (software) version of the equipment is 6 or greater, this article does not apply to your equipment.

Please make sure to power off and disconnect the logger before attempting to check or change the DIP switch settings.

Instructions

1. Power off the logger.
2. Unplug the logger.
3. Open the logger so you can get to the back panel. Some machines have a back panel that is held in place by 4 screws and some machines have a top cover that will need to be removed.
4. Select the appropriate mode by toggling the correct DIP switch configuration.

Back Panel Layout

SINGLE MODE

Use this mode when utilizing the RS232 to Computer mode.  Typically this mode is used when you have a single device connected to a PC.

MULTI-MODE

This mode is used when utilizing the RS485 Multiple Device Interface and is used in conjunction with a Humboldt RS232 to RS485 adapter (HM-000376).  Typically you will have multiple loggers connected in series to a single PC.

5. After setting the appropriate DIP switch configuration, please replace the cover or panel.
6. Plug in and power on the logger.
