Resetting Logger

Summary

In the event the logger needs to be reset please follow these procedures.

WARNING:  Erasing the logger will clear ALL calibrations.  If you have not retrieved the calibrations to the PC or do not know if the FACTORY calibrations exist on the machine DO NOT use this procedure.  Failure to heed this warning will result in the equipment needing to be re-calibrated by a calibration specialist or by Humboldt.

Procedure

A) Reset Procedure

1. Turn off the equipment.
2. Press and Hold the F4 button.
3. Turn the equipment ON.
4. You will hear 4 beeps.
5. Release the F4 button.

If the reset is successful the home screen of the logger will display CH # on lines 1 through 4 (where # is a numeric value).

B) Units Procedure

After reset you will want to set the units of the logger back to metric if the logger was previously set to metric.

1. Press the SETUP button.
2. Press F4 button (MORE SETUP) many times until you see DATE/UNIT/STANDARD.
3. Press the corresponding F* key enter the DATE/UNIT/STANDARD screen.
4. Press F3 button to toggle the units between ENGLISH or METRIC.
5. Press SETUP key many times to return to home screen.

C) Setting the Communication Mode Procedure

In order for the equipment to communicate successfully with the PC the communication mode must be in the correct mode.

1. Press the SETUP button.  
2. Press F4 button (MORE SETUP) many times until you see COMMUNICATION MODE.  If you do not find this option you have a version 5 firmware and you will not need to worry about setting the communication mode.
3. Press the corresponding F* key enter the COMMUNICATION MODE screen.
4. Press the F1 button to toggle between the RS-232 and RS-485 mode. Use RS-485 MULTIMODE: If the connections going from the logger to the PC, use the RS-485 MULTIPLE DEVICES IN/OUT connection.

D) Recall Calibrations Procedure

If the unit contains factory calibrations you can recall these calibrations.  Please refer back to warning in this articles summary.

1. Press the SETUP button.  
2. Press F4 button (MORE SETUP) many times until you see RECALL CALIBRATION option.  
3. Press the corresponding F* key to RECALL CALIBRATIONS.  This action can not be undone.

E) Transfer Calibrations Procedure (HMTS)

If the calibrations were stored on the PC, the calibrations can be sent to the equipment using the PC software.

1. Open HMTS.
2. Verify the logger(s) can be found.
3. Select Calibration Management from the Calibration menu.
4. Select the device and input to send calibration to.
5. Click the Calibration Action button.
6. Click Send Calibration.
7. The calibration will be sent to the device.
8. Repeat for any other calibrations you would like to send.
